New Student Orientation Mission

New Student Orientation is designed to introduce students and family members to the foundations of the John Jay experience by exposing them to the services, opportunities, and information necessary to make a successful transition inside and outside of the classroom.

New Student Orientation Vision

By the end of the experience, students will be prepared to make a successful transition, be free to learn, and have the ability to succeed academically.

Goals of New Student Programs:

  • Generate a feeling of pride, spirit and tradition as a new John Jay Bloodhound
  • Provide intentional opportunities for new students to interact with new and continuing students, faculty and staff;
  • Provide time for students and their families to become acquainted with the physical campus environment;
  • Encourage new students to utilize the many resources available on campus to prepare them for life as a Bloodhound;
  • Provide a framework for four years of success through the communication of expectations and standards;
  • Assist family members in navigating campus resources, services, and programs
