John Jay Sustainability Council

Elmer Phelon, Executive Director of Facilities Management (ephelon@jjay.cuny.edu) as directed by CUNY’s mission statement has put together a group referred to as the “John Jay Council for Sustainability”.  This group consists of representatives from faculty, staff, and students who are leaders and supporters of environmental interests at John Jay College.

To achieve a reduction of 30% in carbon footprint is not an easy task.  The Council is constantly identifying areas where reduction is possible, developing ways to achieve the reduction, cutting through intricate operations to implement procedures to achieve reduction, reporting implementations to verify reduction.
