Admission to the four-year program
Admission to John Jay is competitive and our students are exceptionally talented. To be eligible for freshman admission to a baccalaureate (four-year) program, you must:

  • have a high school average of 80 with at least 15 academic units, based on a three-year high school record
  • achieve an SAT score of 1020
  • present evidence of having received either a high school diploma from an accredited institution, or a General Education Diploma(GED) with a score of 3000 (300 if taken before 2002)

You may be admitted to a four-year program with a lower academic average dependent upon the strength of your high school academic program.

All new students are required to meet standards in three skills areas: reading, writing and mathematics, before enrolling in a CUNY senior college. Students can demonstrate that they meet the University’s skills requirement based on SAT, ACT, or New York State Regents test scores or through the CUNY Skills Assessment Test.
