If you attend another CUNY college and would like to take courses at John Jay, you can use the CUNY portal (LINK) to apply. Read all directions on the portal before registering.
It may take up to 24 hours before the CUNY portal recognizes your sign-on. This means you will not be able to submit an E-permit right after you register for the Portal. If you have technical problems or, you don't remember your username or password, call the CUNY Help Desk at 212.541.0981.
Please allow adequate time for the processing of your E-permit(s)
You will receive e-mails from the E-permit system each time a step is taken on your E-permit(s). The e-mail will be sent to the address on your E-permit application. This address may be different from your usual E-mail address.
Please do not submit several E-permits for the same course at John Jay for the same semester. This slows the process.
You will receive an E-mail once your E-permit has been approved or rejected. If it was approved, the Host College will send you an e-mail explaining when, where and how to actually register for the course.
Very important: Submitting an E-permit application does not mean you are registered for the course. Once the E-permit is approved, you still have to register for the course at John Jay.
