POLICIES GUIDING EMPLOYER RELATIONSHIPS WITH JOHN JAY COLLEGE
By posting a job or internship on our site, you are agreeing to John Jay College’s policies guiding employer recruiting practices hosted through our College. We reserve the right to make decisions regarding job and internship postings at our discretion using the following criteria:
Job Description Accuracy: Employers are responsible for ensuring that their job or internship description is an accurate reflection of the duties of an employee.
Third Party Staffing: Our department does not post positions from third party staffing agencies.
Upfront Costs or Required Activities: We will not post positions requiring students to pay special fees, purchase training materials, or participate in multi-level marketing as a preliminary condition of employment.
Internships: Internships should involve work which is relevant to students´ academic training. In addition, we do not post unpaid internships that are more than 15-20 hours per week. If your internship is mostly administrative or cold calling, the description must state clearly what percentage of the work will be of this nature. Please note we will not post internships that are primarily administrative or cold calling unless interns are paid at least minimum wage ($7.25/hr in New York State, as of July 24, 2009 according to US Dept. of Labor, Employment Standards Administration), or unless they are restructured to include a learning experience.
Discriminatory Practices: The Center for Career & Professional Development is an equal opportunity employer in compliance with New York City and City University of New York non-discrimination rules and policies. The College shall exclude from its placement offices and all other facilities recruiters from any entity which in employment matters has been determined to have a practice of unlawfully discriminating on the bases of protected status following local, state, and federal law.
