• Council on Legal Education Opportunity (CLEO) - The CLEO program is a six-week pre-law summer program sponsored by the American Bar Association Fund for Justice and Education. CLEO is dedicated to diversifying the legal profession by offering legal education opportunities to under-represented groups. The six-week program has an emphasis on legal thinking and analysis and mimics the vigor of first-year law school. • TRIALS - Training and Recruitment Initiative for Admission to Leading Law Schools, is a partnership of NYU School of Law, Harvard Law School, and the Advantage Testing Foundation - http://trials.atfoundation.org –
TRIALS is a residential scholarship program that helps talented and motivated college students of modest means gain admission to the nation’s leading law schools. This rigorous five-week summer course enhances opportunities for students of limited economic means and underrepresented backgrounds by bolstering their skills and focusing their goals. TRIALS is a full scholarship program. Students are not responsible for any tuition, fees, or related expenses. In addition to the academic curriculum of the program, every TRIALS student will receive: (1) transportation to and from the host university campus; (2) campus housing for the duration of the five-week program; (3) three daily meals at the campus dining hall; (4) access to the host university’s library, computer centers, and gym. Each TRIALS student also receives a $3,000 stipend to replace or supplement summer employment income. Students are encouraged to allocate a significant percentage of their stipends for school-year expenses such as tuition, housing, books, and other supplies. TRIALS is designed to ensure that no student will face a financial obstacle to participation. – Expected deadline: January 2013

• NYC Bar Law School Preparation Program - The Association of the Bar of the City of New York Office for Diversity Pipeline Initiatives and Practicing Attorneys for Law Students Program, Inc. (PALS) announced its Inaugural Law Preview Scholarship Program in 2012 - Rising 1L scholarship recipients will participate in a 6-day Law Preview law school prep course, where they will receive more than 45 hours of instruction from top law professors and attorneys who provide comprehensive previews of the following core first-year classes: Civil Procedure, Constitutional Law, Contracts, Criminal Law, Property, Torts and Legal Research & Writing. Additionally, students will attend workshops that teach test-taking strategies, case briefing, time-management, outlining, note-taking and studying, as well as programs on legal careers and extracurricular programs. • AAMC also sponsors the Summer Medical and Dental Education Program (SMDEP) which is a free (full tuition, housing, and meals) six-week summer academic enrichment program that offers freshmen and sophomore college students intensive and personalized medical and dental school preparation.
