On October 3, a standing-room-only crowd of John Jay College alumni, faculty and staff, students and friends gathered to celebrate the formal dedication of the Jay Walk, the urban oasis that is one of the crown jewels of the College’s new expanded campus.
The event recognized those who participated in a fundraising campaign with the purchase of inscribed bricks, benches and trees on the Jay Walk as a way of commemorating graduations and other milestones, honoring loved ones, or simply showing their affinity for John Jay.
“We have alumni who love this College in a way that is just powerful,” said President Jeremy Travis.
Proceeds from the Jay Walk campaign provid scholarships for students who have overcome significant obstacles or adversities en route to their degrees. The first recipients of the Jay Walk scholarships were Sadari Hudson, a Criminal Justice major, and Mehdi Mahraoui, a BA/MA student in Public Administration.
