Faculty play a critical role in shaping John Jay students’ career plans.  Below are some opportunities for faculty to partner with the Center for Career & Professional Development.

 INTERNSHIP PRESENTATIONS
Internships have been proven to be an effective means for college students to test out career options, build professional networks, and obtain an advantage in full-time hiring.  The Center now works with all students – undergraduate and graduate – to help them find and secure internship opportunities.  In addition, we work with a number of academic departments to register students in their academic internship courses.  We host weekly sessions for undergraduates to introduce them to internships.  We would be happy to speak to your department or to your class about student internships to encourage more John Jay students to take advantage of this opportunity. 

“DON’T CANCEL THAT CLASS!”
If you should anticipate a need to cancel class, contact the Center. Based on availability, a staff member could visit your class and deliver career-related lectures or workshops.  Our staff is happy to work with you to make the information related to your course material.   To request a visit, please contact me at the information above. You can choose a topic from the following list of workshops:

BRING YOUR CLASS TO AN EVENT

If there is an employer information session, career fair, workshop, or other program you would like to bring your students to, please reach out and let us know.  Some faculty have even created worksheets for their students and made our events part of their course syllabus.  Our staff would be happy to work with you on this type of collaboration.
