Battery recycling and disposal

AAA, AA, C, D and 9-volt batteries can be disposed of in the trash.  Because the amount of mercury contained in these devices has been greatly reduced, the EPA does not require recycling.

All other batteries, including rechargeable, lithium, nickel cadmium, lead acid, and button cell batteries are disposed of through Environmental Health and Safety.  To make arrangements for disposal email safety@jjay.cuny.edu or phone x4625.
