Jeffrey Deskovic, who received a master’s degree in criminal justice at the 2013 commencement ceremony in the Javits Center, was profiled by several media outlets.
Deskovic was exonerated by the Innocence Project in 2006 after serving 16 years in prison on a wrongful conviction. Recently, he established the Jeffrey Deskovic Foundation with the mission of preventing and eradicating wrongful convictions. Co-directors of Innocence Project, Barry Scheck and Peter Neufeld, accepted honorary degrees during the commencement exercises.
