John Jay College of Criminal Justice Graduate Admissions Committees base their admission decisions on the applicant's ability to fulfill the general admissions requirements as well as the presentation of an excellent application profile which should reflect the applicant's overall academic potential and personal qualities to succeed in graduate studies.

You can now submit an online application, online letters of recommendation and an online personal statement. You can also create a secure online application account that will enable you to track the status of your application. This will allow you the peace of mind of knowing that as soon as your application is completed, it will be sent electronically to the admissions committee for review.

You will receive your admission decision and enrollment information in a timely manner prior to academic advisement and registration if your application is completed and submitted by the application deadline date. Admission representatives can communicate with you throughout the application process, especially if application deadline dates are extended.

In addition to completing all of the online application components please have the following documents mailed to the address listed below no later than the designated application deadline to assure the timely review of your application for priority admission and registration:

  • A non-refundable application fee of $125.00 in the form of check or money order payable to "John Jay College" (do not send cash). John Jay College Alumni must submit a valid alumni card and Veterans/Active Military must submit copies of their DD-214 or military card to be waived from the application fee.
  • Official Undergraduate/Graduate transcripts. John Jay College Graduate Admissions Office will electronically access John Jay graduates' transcripts. International students click here for further information.
  • Appropriate standardized test scores if required (GRE, TOEFL, LSAT)

Applicants do not need to wait until recommendation letters, standardized test scores, and transcripts have been received before submitting their application. The online application system will allow formal submission as long as three reference names, a personal statement, and responses to all required questions are indicated.
