Our main focus continues to be the health and safety of our community. We will continue to post updates on this page in order to keep our community informed about fall COVID-19 safety planning, vaccines, and campus access. Please note: Covid-19 vaccinations are required for all CUNY students attending in-person or hybrid classes. Faculty and staff are strongly encouraged to get vaccinated and can sign in to CUNYFirst now to voluntarily verify their vaccination status (click on the vaccination tab for more details). #VaxUp today so you can keep yourself, your family, and our John Jay community safe. For more information about the vaccine and where to get vaccinated, visit CUNY’s #VaxUpCUNY webpage. Latest News Provost Yi Li and Interim Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Mark Flower are leading John Jay’s Fall Planning Committee, which includes representatives from our faculty, staff, and students. This group is working together to map out an operational plan for the Fall 2021 Semester that’s consistent with our guidance from CUNY, along with both state and local health official recommendations. Fall Planning Committee Members: Spring 2022 Reopening / Campus Access Committee Spring 22 Reopening / Campus Access Committee Members: Currently, all New Yorkers age 12, regardless of immigration status, can get vaccinated without an appointment at New York State-run and New York City-run vaccination sites. Find a vaccination site near you at vaccines.gov. If you are not a New York resident, but work or study in New York, you are also eligible to get vaccinated. This expanded eligibility means that all of our students, faculty, and staff are eligible for vaccination. Covid-19 vaccines are safe and effective. They’re also free to everyone and you don’t need health insurance to get the vaccine. In addition, CUNY has developed an extensive website with relevant and pertinent information and can be accessed here. If you have questions or concerns about the fall planning process, please feel free to reach out to Provost Li (yili@jjay.cuny.edu) or Interim Vice President Flower (mflower@jjay.cuny.edu). For the Spring 2022 semester, the vast majority of CUNY courses will be in-person. Students taking in-person or hybrid courses must be fully vaccinated when classes begin, meaning unvaccinated students will be withdrawn before classes begin if they do not meet the below guidelines and deadlines: Key Deadlines 1/3/22 Winter Session Begins 1/28/22 Spring Session Begins Use these tools to find a free vaccine site close to you and to check which vaccine(s) they offer: 1. Fully vaccinated? 2. Didn’t get vaccinated? 3. Visiting a campus for any reason after 10/7/21? 4. Only taking online courses? For additional information please visit the CUNY Academic Year 2021-22 Safety Guidance page. Students taking in-person or hybrid classes who fail to upload their proof of vaccination will be subject to potential academic withdrawal that could also impact their financial aid and make them ineligible for refunds for the courses. In addition, after October 7, all students must provide proof of vaccination in order to access campus.
With classes being delivered online, it’s crucial that students have the right technology in place. If you are a student and do not have all the tools you need, DoIT may be able to lend you a device and provide you the software for your courses. Tell us your needs today by clicking on “Tell us your tech needs” on the CUNYfirst home page or by contacting the DoIT helpdesk at 212.237.8200 or helpdesk@jjay.cuny.edu. Loaner laptops: Students who are in need of a loaner laptop may request an appointment to pick up or have a laptop loaner mailed by emailing the DoIT Helpdesk at helpdesk@jjay.cuny.edu or by calling 212.237.8200.

CUNY Updates There are only two ways to gain access to campus this spring: a. Faculty and staff: you may come to campus if either (i) you are fully vaccinated, have uploaded your proof in CUNYfirst, and have had that proof approved; or (ii) you have received a negative PCR test from a CUNY testing site in the past seven days. You can go straight to John Jay’s North Hall to register and be tested, or you can locate an email (from no-reply@cleared4work.com) that you should have received in your preferred email account (as identified in CUNYfirst) with instructions on how you can make a reservation to be tested at a CUNY site convenient for you. The CUNY sites are: Herbert H. Lehman College When you sign up for testing, make sure to enter your date of birth and phone number so that you can receive your results. You should receive test results within 24-48 hours by email and text message. A negative test result will allow you access to any entrance on campus during the seven days after you took the test (the valid testing period). You must present the negative test result on your phone when you enter campus. More information about the testing program can be found here, and detailed testing location information is available here. If you have not provided proof of full vaccination and have not received an email from Cleared4, contact the John Jay Help Desk at 212-237-8200. Visitors: To minimize density, we strongly discourage non-essential visitors. If visitors do come to campus, we encourage the use of conference rooms or large public areas where guests can be greeted and hosted. Visitors must submit vaccination verification or a negative COVID-19 test result through the John Jay portal here: Covid Document Upload Application (cuny.edu). Campus Access Hours Hours of operation for the New Building and Haaren Hall are: All other buildings will have the same hours of operation as the New Building and Haaren Hall, except they will be closed on Sundays. #VaxUp today so you can keep yourself, your family, and our John Jay community safe. Covid-19 vaccines are safe and effective. They’re also free to everyone 12 or older regardless of immigration status and you don’t need health insurance or an appointment to get the vaccine.
