The Office of Continuing and Professional Studies (OCPS) was founded in 2005 to help criminal justice professionals keep pace with the changing demands of their fields. The OCPS approaches the field of criminal justice it its entirety – from public safety to human rights, media relations to public policy. At the core of our programs are our faculty – scholars, practitioners and teachers who are committed to complex issues surrounding crime, justice and public safety in a free society. By bringing together John Jay’s distinguished and diverse academic community with working professionals, the OCPS serves as a catalyst for new ideas and innovative practices that are helping academics, policy makers and practitioners serve the public now and in the future.
The OCPS offers professional training programs, executive and leadership development programs and continuing education programs. The Centers for Research, Policy and Practice play a key role in educating for justice.
