Tutoring for Semester Math Classes

Students currently attending a math class during the fall and spring semesters at John Jay College can make appointments for tutoring.  Tutoring is available for Math 100, 103, 104, 105, 108, 191, 141, 241, 242, 301.

FAQ about Tutoring

How do I make an appointment?
Appointments can be made in person at the center or over the phone during our hours of operation. Requests for appointments left on the center’s e-mail or voicemail will not be granted.

How many appointments can I make in a week?
Students are allowed three appointments in advance for each particular subject and can book up to three weeks in advance. All appointments should be booked in advance with only one appointment per day. 

Can I walk in and get tutoring?
Yes, if there is availability, you can walk-in and get tutoring, but we prefer you to schedule appointments in advance.

Is tutoring done in one-on-one or in small group sessions?
Any one tutor can have up to two (2) students in one tutoring session. Individualized tutoring cannot be requested and is not guaranteed.  When more than one student is in a session with a tutor, all students will be from the same math level, though possibly not from the same section or professor.

What should I do if I am going to be late for my appointment or have to cancel?
If you are going to be late or cannot make it to your appointment, you must call and cancel before the start of your appointment.  If you are more than fifteen minutes late to your appointment without calling you forfeit your appointment.  If you miss three appointments without having cancelled, you will be denied the right to book appointments in advance and can get tutoring only on a walkin basis, if there is a tutor available.
