The Center for English Language Support (CELS) provides instructional assistance to students whose native language is not English. CELS offers individual tutoring, workshops, and computer resources to help students with academic writing, grammar, and oral presentation skills.

Communication Arts Lab
The Center is available to all John Jay students who are having difficulty with reading comprehension, study skills, and/or time management. The Center is also open to students enrolled in COM 101 and COM 102 who have been referred by a professor or are self-referred. Problems with reading are diagnosed via appointment by a qualified reading laboratory technician.

The Center provides small-group tutoring for all levels of Mathematics, Forensic Science major courses, and Natural Science 107. Individualized and small-group tutoring is also available to students who need to retake the CUNY Assessment Test in Mathematics.

The Center is open to SEEK students. The SEEK Center provides tutoring in reading, writing, and mathematics, as well as other courses, if needed. The Center also offers a number of workshops to help students strengthen their skills to pass the CUNY Assessment Tests.

The Writing Center provides tutoring and writing consultation to all undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in College. The primary function of the Center is to help student learn to write papers for their courses and strenghten their writing skills. The center offers one-to-one tutoring and many skill and content-oriented workshops, as well as intensive preparation for the CUNY Assessment Test.
