Math Advancement Program (MAP)
The Math Advancement Program (MAP) provides extra academic support to students who are repeating a math class. Eligible students are those registered for a math class from which they have previously withdrawn or in which they have previously received a failing grade. Participation is voluntary and free of charge. However, students who choose to participate must sign a contract agreeing to meet the requirements of the program, including mandatory attendance at weekly one-on-one tutoring appointments. Students who fail to meet the program requirements will have their MAP participation terminated but may still participate in the general small group tutoring program.
MAP participants will be assigned to work with an experienced tutor from either the Math & Science Resource Center or the Math Preparation Center, as follows:
MATH100, MATH103, MATH191, MAT104: Math Preparation Center. Contact Briana Weinert at 212-237-8969 or bweinert@jjay.cuny.edu
MAT 105, MAT108, MAT141, MAT192, MAT241, MAT242: Math & Science Resource Center. Contact Michele Doney at 646-557-4595 or mdoney@jjay.cuny.edu
To participate in the MAP program, students must meet with the appropriate center director by the end of the first week of classes to sign a MAP Tutee Contract and select a day and time for weekly one-on-one tutoring. Please click on “News & Announcements” on the menu to your right for this semester’s relevant deadlines.
