Being an educator has been one of the most rewarding accomplishments I could have ever sought and achieved. I have always taken such pride in my work. Students, in whatever capacity I have worked, have been at the heart of what I did. I am, relatively, still a newcomer to the Center of Academic Advisement, but I have embraced fully every aspect of its work. Coming from an administrative academic support-Supplemental Instruction and teaching background within the College, I have brought a diverse perspective to the work of the Center.

Throughout my tenure at John Jay, I have been deeply committed to the mission of the College and to our students. I have worked untiringly to empower students in reaching their academic goals and to uplift them. This has continued to be my own personal mission in the Academic Advisement Center since joining the staff. Every opportunity I am given to be connected to and involved with students, I will seize with enthusiasm and sincerity.

My love of learning came from my parents who very early in my life stressed the importance of education. I knew, even as a child, that my career path would lead me into higher education, for I was to be a "college teacher." My first degree, a B.S. degree in English with a concentration in speech from Alabama State University, is the foundation for all that I have done in my work. Realizing, though, that my love of language was greater than that of the sciences needed for a graduate degree in speech, I turned to the exciting world of literature for the beginning of my graduate study. At its completion, I received an M.A. degree from Atlanta University in English with a concentration in 17th century British literature. These rich, educational experiences will forever give great meaning to my life and upon which I continue to build in all that I do, whether it is in an administrative position or in my teaching of others or in whatever area I am propelled.
