Students participating on study abroad programs receive academic credit in one of three ways:
1) John Jay credit - If you participate on a John Jay College faculty-led program you will receive John Jay credit just as you would if you took the course on campus.
2) E-PERMIT credit -If you participate on a study abroad program offered through another CUNY institution you will apply for E-PERMIT credit. Courses granted through E-PERMIT are calculated into your GPA. See STEP 6 in the “Step by Step Process” for information on applying for permits.
3) PERMIT credit - If you participate on a study abroad program offered through a third-party provider you will apply for PERMIT credit. Courses granted through PERMIT are transfer credit and are NOT calculated into your GPA. See STEP 6 in the “Step by Step Process” for information on applying for permits.
