Peer Support
Your Peer Mentors are specifically trained to help you with your Showcase projects and direct you to the appropiate resources. Please contact your Peer Mentor if you need assistance or have questions.

Printing Your Poster
Have your poster ready by the end of November to allow for any revisions or adjustments before the Showcase. Email the file to cpreda@jjay.cuny.edu no later than November 26, 2012. Your poster will be printed, mounted, and delivered to the Showcase on the day of the event.

Poster Preparation Workshops

Workshop 1: How to Plan a Poster
This workshop will introduce you to the purpose and process of a poster presentation. You will learn the differences between a research paper and a poster and how to use the components of a research paper toward creating a poster. You will also learn strategies for planning and time management as well as recommendations for poster organization and layout.
 
Dates Offered: Tuesday, October 16; Wednesday, October 17

Workshop 2: Using PowerPoint
In this hands-on workshop, you will be introduced to the basics of PowerPoint. With a specific focus on how to create and format content for a poster, this workshop will benefit you if you are less familiar with PowerPoint or want a review before you begin creating your poster.

Workshop 3: How to Present a Poster
This workshop will discuss strategies to help students present their poster confidently and professionally. Students will learn how to prepare and practice for the oral aspect of the Showcase, including professional presence (e.g. attire, body language), audience awareness, and how to anticipate and respond to questions.
