Namaste.  I am Baibhav Rawal and I was born and raised in the Himalayan nation Nepal. I am a junior in John Jay College and majoring in Forensic Science with a concentration in Molecular Biology. Having an immense interest in science and justice based studies from an earlier point in life; I wanted to enroll in a college with a strong background on scientific research and justice studies. I can say that John Jay has outstanding faculty members and the best research programs.
Talking about my interests, I love to play soccer and chess, and listen to music. I also love to travel to new places and learn about different culture and traditions. I am also a big fan of the Bourne Series novels and movies.

Besides being a peer advisor, I am a Research Assistant in the Science Department where I am performing research on the effect of antidepressant drugs and food dyes on DNA. Under proper supervision of the research mentor, our team has been able to publish the research in the Journal of Analytical Biochemistry. I plan to continue my research through graduate school and particularly want to work on the medicinal use of Cordyceps sinesis, a caterpillar-fungus mainly found in the Himalayan region. As my John Jay life is progressing, every aspect of John Jay is helping to enhance intellectual and social changes in me.
