Hi, my name is Cortanay Parker and I am an undergraduate student at John Jay College. I started out as a Criminology BA major and realized in my sophomore year that it wasn't for me. I went to Academic Advisement several times and the advisors gave me different options as to what major I could change to and great advice about exploring different majors if I couldn’t make up my mind. I recently found a home in the Criminal Justice BS major & I am very satisfied. With my degree I plan on doing something in the law field, particularly the court system. I aspire to be a criminal defense attorney or a paralegal. I want to be a peer advisor because I want to be able to help and guide other students onto the path of their career choice like I was guided. I really want to help people because that gives me satisfaction knowing that I made a difference. Lastly, I want to be a peer advisor for the administrative experience because it will help in my career as an attorney & as a paralegal. Having a lot of administrative experience allows me to get familiar with different computer programs and how to work with other people.

Fun Fact: I like to read and sleep when I am on vacation from John Jay
