Through this program, courses related to emergency medical technology are offered. These programs are open to the public as well as to police officers and firefighters. This program prepares students for careers with the New York City Fire Department, hospitals, ambulance corps, and other related organizations. Offering the most comprehensive program in New York State, this program includes the New York State Certification, Weapons of Mass Destruction Awareness (WMD), and FIT certification. The program also includes 16 hours of clinical training (8 hours ambulance training and 8 hours in an emergency department).
The refresher course prepares the emergency medical technician for recertification by the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH), Bureau of Emergency Medical Services utilizing the challenge format designed by NYSDOH. Offering the most comprehensive program in New York State, this program includes the New York State Certification examination and Weapons of Mass Destruction Awareness (WMD).
The Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS) Course is a professional level CPR course for healthcare professionals as well as lay rescuers. While anyone may apply, this course is ideal for all hospital staff, police, fire and EMS personnel.
The Heartsaver Automated External Defibrillator (AED) course is ideal for civilians, teachers and childcare staff. It provides the lay rescuer with CPR skills and the training to operate an AED. This course is open to anyone interested in learning basic CPR and life saving techniques.
The Heartsaver First Aid course is ideal for peace officers, life guards and public safety personnel. It provides the lay rescuer with CPR skills, the training to operate an AED and basic first aid techniques. This course is open to anyone interested in learning basic CPR and life saving techniques.
