This Fall we are piloting our new MAP Lite Program for CHE 101 students. Read on for further information.

What is MAP Lite?

MAP Lite is a new program that provides weekly one-on-one tutoring to help you improve your performance in CHE 101 if you are not happy with how you did on your first exam. Of course, you are welcome to supplement your weekly one-on-one appointment with additional appointments from our small group tutoring program.

How is MAP Lite different for MAP?

Both programs offer a weekly, one-on-one tutoring appointment with an experienced MSRC tutor. The MAP Program begins in the first week of tutoring and is limited to students who are repeating a math or science class. MAP Lite starts after the first exam, and it is open to any CHE 101 student who would like to improve their performance in the course. You do not have to be repeating CHE 101 to participate.

Why should I do it?

MAP works, and we think MAP Lite will too! Students who complete the MAP Program are more likely to have a successful course outcome, less likely to be on academic probation, and more likely to graduate than similar students who do not participate. We think MAP Lite will be similarly helpful.

Who is eligible?

This is a brand new program, and participation is currently limited to students taking CHE 101. You do not have to be repeating the course to be in MAP Lite. If you are dissatisfied with your score on the first exam and would like to improve your performance in the course, MAP Lite is for you!

How do I sign up?

Once you receive your score on the first CHE 101 exam, you should visit Professor Sheehan in room 05.66.16NB to go over the exam with him and request a referral form for MAP Lite. Bring your signed referral form to the MSRC and ask to speak with a supervisor. Any MSRC supervisor will be happy to help you sign up for the program.

What is the deadline to sign up?

The deadline to sign a MAP Lite contract is 5:00PM on Friday, October 17th. This deadline is strictly enforced.
