The Master of Arts in Criminal Justice program, in collaboration with the Center on Terrorism, offers the Advanced Certificate in Terrorism Studies, an interdisciplinary program.
The program offers advanced instruction on the causes, dynamics and prevention of terrorist activities. Program courses deal with the history of terrorism, politics, the sociology and psychology of terrorism and the counter-terrorism measures necessary to safeguard countries and their populations.
The Advanced Certificate in Terrorism Studies is appropriate for students who wish to engage in research, become homeland security professionals at local, state or federal levels, or join American and international agencies concerned with counter-terrorism. This is a stand-alone certificate at the post-baccalaureate level. A student may pursue the Certificate independent of a Master’s program or while pursuing a John Jay Master’s degree. Students who successfully complete the program are awarded with a New York State Education Department certificate.
