The Career Development Services team offers John Jay students and alumni comprehensive career and professional development assistance in numerous areas of public service and private employment. This comprehensive team approach to serving students is provided through members of the following offices and programs:
The Job Assistance Office (JAO)
The JAO assists John Jay students and alumni in finding part- and full-time work by maintaining the job announcement bulletin boards and binders, through the Resume Referral Service, by informing students of upcoming recruitment activities and acting as a referral service.  The Office acts as a clearinghouse for job openings. The Office of Career Advising
The Office of Career Advising (the Office) provides support to students and alumni in career planning and job marketing skills.  The objective is to prepare students to compete effectively in the job market and to provide information on job opportunities in the career fields of their choice. College Opportunity to Prepare for Employment (COPE) Program
COPE offers a variety of services to JJC students who are receiving public assistance.  COPE aids these students to successfully navigate through college and obtain gainful employment leading to financial independence from the Human Resources Administration (HRA).Go There>>
The Office of Internships
The Office of Internships offers students a 3-credit internship/fieldwork course whereby students work at an agency in their field of interest for a semester. Go There>>
The Office of Cooperative Education
Cooperative (co-op) education programs formally integrate a student's academic and/or career interests with productive work experiences in employer organizations. Co-ops are especially beneficial for students interested in law enforcement careers on the federal level, and who are concerned about competition in these highly desirable fields. Go There>>
The Office of Graduate School Advising
Students considering obtaining a graduate degree should stop by the Office of Graduate School Advising.  Handouts detailing reasons for applying as well as requirements for master's and doctoral degrees can be obtained here.

The Professional Development Program (PDP)
PDP is an informative plan designed to enhance the professional knowledge, skills, and behavior of JJC students in order to enable them to become more acclimated to the professional culture.  PDP employs a student computer lab, workshop series, individualized advisement sessions and informational hand-outs. The Office of Study Abroad Information
The Office provides undergraduate students with guidance in applying to Study Abroad Programs sponsored by other colleges and universities nationwide. Go There>>
The Office of Faculty & Staff Academic Advisement
The Faculty & Staff Academic Advisement Program consists of JJC faculty and staff members who volunteer for one week (Academic Advisement Week)  during the fall and spring semesters to advise lower juniors one on one.Go There>>
CUNY Counseling Assistantship Program (CUNYCAP)
CUNYCAP affords recent CUNY graduates, who have earned a baccalaureate degree, the opportunity to gain valuable work experience in various student service-oriented positions throughout CUNY. Go There>>
