Pre-Law Advisement The Office assists students and alumni who plan to attend law school or who are unsure of whether to attend law school. Each person is advised about and prepared for the process of taking the Law School Admissions Test (LSAT), applying to law schools and financing their law school education.
On-Campus Recruitment
Recruitment takes place throughout the year for a variety of positions with various agencies. Representatives from criminal justice and public administration agencies, private corporations and nonprofit social service agencies visit the College to interview prospective candidates. Accommodations are made for employers to either recruit in the North Hall lobby or interview candidates by appointment on campus. Furthermore, some agencies conduct written examinations on campus while others request pre-examination screenings by Career Development Services.
Career Fairs: Graduate & Professional Schools Days
There are two (2) events that occur every year at the College: the Graduate and Professional School Days and the Career Fair. Graduate and Professional School Days take place during the first week of December. This educational and informative event brings together federal, state and city governmental agencies, graduate programs and law schools, nonprofit organizations and private industry and is open to all John Jay students. Some representatives may collect resumes or other contact information.
The Job Fair
The Job Fair is an annual event which takes place in April. It is open to all current John Jay undergraduate students, graduate students and alumni. Students and alumni wishing to attend the Job Fair are required to come dressed in traditional business attire with a professional resume in hand in order to be admitted to this event. Everyone seeking entrance to the Job Fair will have his/her dress inspected and his/her resume perused for approval before admission. Furthermore, students and alumni are required to leave a copy of their resume at the entrance to the Job Fair. Recruiters may collect students' resumes and contact qualified candidates for available positions.
