The Office of Study Abroad Information provides undergraduate students with guidance in applying to Study Abroad Programs sponsored by other colleges and universities nationwide. Students receive pre-departure orientation, academic advisement for transferring credits earned abroad and re-entry adjustment advisement. The Office also serves as a liaison between students and the following offices: Registrar, Admissions, Financial Aid and Bursar. Finally, the Office functions as a resource center, providing students with information on various Study Abroad Programs, host and sponsor institutions, housing, regional health issues, medical insurance and study abroad budget issues. Students must submit a personal statement and references. It is recommended that students have earned 45 credits with a 2.5 cumulative average, have passed English 101, 102, and all three CUNY Freshman Skills Assessment tests.
I. BULLETIN BOARD:
The Study Abroad bulletin board is updated on a regular basis to inform students of various Study Abroad Programs and opportunities. Students may obtain postcards off the boards to acquire additional information on Study Abroad Programs.

II. FILES:
The Office maintains files of various Study Abroad Programs which include program brochures, applications, flyers, CD's and videos.

III. STUDY ABROAD REFERENCE GUIDES:
The study abroad guides inform students of hundreds of programs in areas of academic courses, language programs, and country-to-country study programs. Students interested in studying abroad must first identify a country of desired study and then the Office will assist students in identifying the appropriate program.

IV. INDIVIDUALIZED ADVISEMENT:
Students must obtain descriptions of the courses they wish to study abroad and submit the descriptions to the Study Abroad Advisor. Course selections are discussed with students to determine where they fit into students' academic course of study. The Study Abroad Advisor acts as a Liaison between students and the Registrar's Office to ensure students receive credit for the courses studied abroad.

V. BENEFITS:
Students who study abroad have a unique and enriching experience to add to their personal, educational and professional development. Moreover, these students bring a different perspective to the classroom setting at John Jay. Students will have forever improved the quality of their lives by having lived, learned and experienced a different culture, people and country. John Jay students have recently studied in Africa, Australia, Dominican Republic, England, France, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan and Morocco.

Office Hours
