The Security Management Institute serves as a link between the academic community and the law enforcement and private security industries. 

The Institute offers practitioners a variety of professional development training and educational opportunities, seminars and workshops. 

It also provides evaluation of security and criminal justice operations, and consultation services.  The Institute is authorized by the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services to conduct Peace Officer and Security Guard training.
