Whether you recently graduated from high school, have not attended college in some time, or fall somewhere in between, I believe your decision to study at John Jay is right on time. And I look forward to hearing your story. My higher education story began at Marist College, where I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Business. My pursuit of finding the career field that best fit my interests and strengths led me to take on an internship at my College’s career services office. While trying to figure out my own path, I realized that I wanted to help others do the same.
I earned a Master of Arts degree in Higher Education Administration from NYU while working full-time; first in human resources and career services at NYU Stern, and then in career services at the Cooper Union, both within employer relations and student counseling functions. Later, I transitioned to career counseling and academic advising roles at Columbia University. One of my favorite aspects of working within higher education is meeting students and colleagues from diverse backgrounds. I have worked with students at every age and stage of life, and I still find that when discussing academic plans and career plans, we cannot talk about one without involving the other. Above all, I am driven by helping students make fulfilled choices during their college career and beyond.
I hope you embrace your time at John Jay, and take advantage of all the College has to offer. I feel incredibly fortunate to be a part of the vibrant John Jay community, and proud to be a fierce advocate for justice!
