Placement Exam:

-A placement exam is required for anyone registering for courses in French or Spanish.

-No appointment needed. Walk in during lab hours for testing.

- A total of 10 hours are strongly recommended for every first year modern language class. Five of those hours should be completed by the midterm. (For students taking Modern Language courses during the summer, five hours are recommended.)

- No less than half an hour per session. No more than one hour per day.

- Only studying or completing lab assignments will be counted towards the recommended hours for your class. Tutoring is not counted towards the ten hours.

- Individual tutoring sessions are given by appointment made in advance and in person.

- Computer usage is limited to modern language research assignments and Lab Workbooks. Only Lab Workbook assignments will be accepted towards the recommended lab hours for your class.

Lab Rules:

- Please have available your class, section number and your professor's last name to provide a faster sign-in service.

- No food or drinks are allowed in the lab.

- Playing computer games, surfing, chatting or checking e-mail are not permitted.

- All students must present a valid John Jay ID card.
