Bio

Dr. Alberto A. Gotay, BS, MA, MPS, ED.D. studied at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, Long Island University, New York University, and the University of Phoenix. He has a long history with the City University of New York's John Jay College of Criminal Justice in their Health and Physical Education Department.

Retired from the New York City Police Department (NYPD), his last assignment for that organization was as the Commanding Officer/Chairperson of the Physical Education Department and Coordinator of Special Projects. Professor Gotay also retired from the United States Army and Coast Guard Reserve after concurrent time with the NYPD. Overseas assignments included Korea and activation for the first Iraq conflict. In addition to the John Jay College of Criminal Justice he has taught courses at Staten Island College, York College, Kingsborough Community College, and Bergen College. As a certified Protection Professional, Gotay was the Director of Security for Lincoln Medical Center in Bronx, New York and for Interfaith Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. Dr. Gotay has conducted numerous training courses for law enforcement agencies and has developed training and testing criteria for the NYPD, Rhode Island State Police, Yonkers Police Department, White Plains Police Department, Yonkers Fire Department, and others.

Professor Gotay has interacted extensively with students and their activities and at various times has moderated the John Jay College's Ski Club, Scuba Club, Karate Club, Judo Club, and Boxing Club.

 His publications relate to security, health, and physical education. His most recent publications are:
