Bio

Dominick R. DeRubbio is an Adjunct Lecturer in the Security, Fire, and Emergency Management Department, he specializes in teaching health and safety for current and future first responders. He is also the founder and President of Salvus Group, LLC, a New York City-based health and safety company. Over the past 15 years, Mr. DeRubbio has served in various roles overseeing corporate health and safety programs, as well as designing and implementing emergency action plans for public and private institutions.

Mr. DeRubbio has also held positions within the American Red Cross of Greater New York, where he coordinated disaster drills and planning exercises, as well as the New York City Office of Emergency Management where he worked in the Emergency Communication Center as a volunteer.

Mr. DeRubbio is authorized by OSHA to teach health and safety-related courses and he is also authorized to teach New York City Department of Buildings courses. He also holds licenses with the New York State Department of Labor (Mold Assessor/Workplace Safety and Loss Consultant) and is also a certified Aerial Work Platform trainer. He is also recognized as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and a Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS) by the National Fire Protection Association.

Between 2010 and 2011 Mr. DeRubbio worked for the New York State Assembly where he served as Constituent Liaison to Assemblyman Matthew Titone of the 61st assembly district. He advised the assemblyman on matters of public safety.

Mr. DeRubbio obtained his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Science degrees in Fire and Emergency Service studies with a master’s thesis titled: ”Human Perception of Exit Signs During Building Evacuations” from the John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York. He is also affiliated faculty of the Christian Regenhard Center for Emergency Response Studies.
