Nivedita Majumdar received her MA and M.Phil in English from Delhi University and her Ph.D. in English is from the University of Florida. Her research interests include Marxist theory, postcolonial studies, theories of nationalism and cultural studies. She examines ways in which cultural texts reflect and shape issues of class, gender, terrorism and nationalism. Her book, The Other Side of Terror (2009), published by Oxford University Press, offers an analysis of the phenomenon of terrorism in the global stage, its historical and political roots in South Asia and presents literary and historical representations of terrorism. Majumdar’s writings have appeared in the Journal of Commonwealth and Postcolonial Studies, Peace and Conflict: Journal of Peace Psychology, South Asian Review, ARIEL: A Review of International English Literature, Indian Literature, Doris Lessing Studies, and other scholarly journals. She teaches courses in the English major, the general education program, and at the Interdisciplinary Studies Program.
