Free DACA Renewal Support

If you are a DACA recipient, there is important information you need to know about filing for renewal:

  • If your DACA benefits are expiring between September 5, 2017 and March 5, 2018, you need to file an application for renewal before October 5, 2017.
  • Renewal applications received by USCIS after October 5, 2017 will not be considered.  

 

Do not delay, if you are eligible, get help now to file your DACA renewal application BEFORE October 5, 2017.

 

John Jay is committed to supporting all DACA students in the renewal process, and is partnering with trusted legal services organizations to provide free legal support to students, and reminds students to beware of immigration scams.  

Right now there are two options for obtaining free DACA renewal support:

(1) Free DACA Renewal help from CUNY Citizenship Now!

(2) Free Appointments with an Attorney

DACA renewal support is available by appointment through the Northern Manhattan Coalition for Immigrant Rights (NMCIR). Click “More…” below for more information about making an appointment with NMCIR.

Make an appointment with an attorney for free help filing your DACA renewal and apply for a scholarship that covers the DACA renewal filling fee of $495

  • WHO: Any John Jay student eligible to file for DACA renewal is invited to come and receive free legal assistance.
     
  • WHERE:  Appointments will take place at Northern Manhattan Coalition for Immigrant Rights (NMCIR), 5030 Broadway, #639, which is right off the 215th Street 1 train stop.   
     
  • WHEN:
    • Appointments are available Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday between 8 am and 5 pm and Friday 8 am to 1 pm, or
    • Walk ins are welcome to come in before 7 am Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Friday. NMCIR will give priority to college students whose DACA application expires between September 5, 2017 and March 5, 2018.
        
  • HOW TO SIGN UP FOR AN APPOINTMENT: Email (info@nmcir.org) as soon as possible and be sure to include:
    •  your name,
    • email address, and
    • phone number
  • WHAT’S NEXT? Through NMCIR, you will receive:
    • Help filling out your DACA renewal application;
    • Help sending the entire file to USCIS (postage paid); and
    • Help following up with USCIS if needed while your application is being processed.

 

WHAT YOU SHOULD BRING:

  • For DACA Renewal (I-765 & I-821D) bring:
    • Social Security Card;
    • (if applicable) Deportation order or criminal disposition dated after your first application;
    • 2 passport style photos;
    • If you filed your first application elsewhere, please bring it/all materials you used to file with you; and
    • Cost for immigration money order $495.
