Carol Groneman is Professor of History Emerita at John Jay College and the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. She is an Associate Editor for immigration of the Encyclopedia of New York City. Her most recent book, Nymphomania: A History, has been translated and published in Brazil, France, Germany, Great Britain, Romania, and is forthcoming in Spain and Turkey. Other publications include Corporate PhD (co-author) and To Toil the Livelong Day: America’s Women Workers, 1780-1980 (co-editor). She is Chair of the Board of the American Social History Project and has been active in the Berkshire Conference of Women Historians. She chaired the Interdisciplinary Studies Department and taught there for many years. She served as the Associate Director of the Center for the Humanities at the Graduate Center and Executive Director of the New York Council for the Humanities. She was awarded a number of scholarships and fellowships, including a Senior Fellowship from the American Council of Learned Societies.
