Areas of Expertise: Pharaonic Egypt, with a minor focus in ancient Mesopotamia, interpretation of ancient texts, reading ancient Egyptian, Akkadian, and Sumerian.

Tracy Musacchio did her undergraduate degree in Egyptology at Brown and will shortly graduate from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations with a specialization in Egyptology. In addition to teaching history as a visiting professor at Knox College and teaching art history at the Delaware College of Art and Design, she has also participated in archaeological and epigraphic expeditions in Egypt at the sites of Saqqara, Abydos, and Sohag. Before coming to John Jay, Tracy was a fellow at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Tracy is a firm believer in material culture as being of paramount importance to the interpretation of ancient civilizations, in particular how inscriptions, art history, and archaeology can be integrated to elucidate historical specifics.
