Judicial Externships

Judicial Externships

In the fall and spring semesters, the Pre-Law Institute and Center for Post-Graduate Opportunities (PLI-CPO)  places John Jay undergraduates in judicial internships throughout the New York area. Student interns  are afforded the extraordinary experience of working closely with judges and their staff on civil and criminal cases. Interns work two days a week at their placement sites in either the spring or fall semester.  They are also required to register for LWS 378, which is taught by Professor Maxwell Mak or Professor Peter Romaniuk.

Some of the ’22 and ’23 placement sites include:

  • The Bronx District Attorney's Office
  • The Honorable Wilma Guzman (Alumna), Bronx Supreme Court
  • The Honorable Edwina Mendelson, Deputy Chief Administrative Judge, Office for Justice Initiatives
  • The Honorable Ingrid Joseph (Alumna), Kings Supreme Court
  • The Honorable Jonah Triebwasser (Alumnus), Town and Village Justice, Red Hook (Dutchess County), NY
