PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: 

The John Jay College’s new affiliated program through the University of Westminster International Summer School is open to all majors. The University of Westminster lies at the heart of the city of London and has an international curriculum which is combined with a unique London focus. By choosing to study in London, students will be deciding to come to one of the most exciting cities in the world, one which is cosmopolitan and home to a distinctive history and culture. This is your opportunity to immerse yourself in the life and living history of this world class city and become a part of the University of Westminster’s unique London story. Students will reside in Halls of Residence in central London, which are in self-catering blocks of single rooms (no roommate). The halls all have a secure swipe-card entry system, a 24-hour security presence, and wireless internet.

Through this affiliate program, students enroll directly in one or two modules at University of Westminster for transfer credit. Each module runs for a 3-week session, and students can participate in either or both sessions. Students are able to choose from a variety of liberal arts courses offered through the Summer School. These classes allow you to experience the liberal arts, with a focus on London. Classes range from the study of Shakespeare to the exploration of contemporary culture and law.

Students from all majors are encouraged to apply.

  • Housing: Students will be housed in single-occupancy accommodations provided by the University of Westminster. Click here for more information.
  • Refund Policy:  Students who withdraw from a John Jay College program after confirming participation, but before the program begins, will lose the non-refundable deposit and any unrecoverable costs. Payment of the program deposit indicates the student understands and agrees to the Office of International Studies & Program’s payment and refund policies. University of Westminster tuition and housing refunds must be requested in writing. If requests are not in writing, they will not be processed. Once the program begins, no refunds will be made for any reason.   • The Office of International Studies and Programs (OISP) has the right to modify or cancel the program, including  changes to the program dates, costs, scheduled visits, program itinerary, etc., as dictated by economic and/or political situations, etc.
  • Fluctuating exchange rates and other fees may lead to program cost changes.
  • Program cost is based on a minimum number of participants for the program.
  • Students who wish to arrive earlier or depart later than the program dates are responsible for any, and all, additional costs including, but not limited to, accommodations, meals, etc. until the program start date and after the end date.
  • Since the course will be taught by a foreign, non-CUNY , faculty member, the credits earned will be posted as transfer credit on the student’s transcript.
  • Students are responsible for the purchase of their airfare, and for their itinerary. Due to possible changes in program dates/itinerary information, students are not to purchase airfare until prompted by OISP.                                                     
  • Students are encouraged to apply early, due to limited space.
  • Attendance at on-site orientation is mandatory.
  • Exam dates can NOT be changed for any reason. Personal schedules must be organized accordingly.
  • Information is tentative and subject to change, including **program cost(s), itinerary, etc.

Application Deadline: Monday, April 3, 2017However, qualified applicants will be admitted on a rolling basis until places are filled. Thus, due to limited places, students are encouraged to apply early.

Please note: An application fee of $40.00 is due at the time of application. Money orders, personal checks and cash are accepted. Applications will not be accepted if incomplete. More information can be found here.
