ABOUT US
The Math & Science Resource Center (MSRC) serves as an Academic Support and Resource center for John Jay College undergraduate students enrolled in Math, Science, and Computer Science courses. We work closely with the faculty and administration to deliver a variety of services to support student success.
MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the Math & Science Resource Center is to provide quality academic support to undergraduate learners of John Jay College of Criminal Justice in the fields of mathematics, science, and computer science. Our goals are to enhance students’ metacognitive skills by using the Socratic method of tutoring to empower students to become independent life-long learners.

We offer the following services:

The MSRC offers the following tutoring services. Students may make an appointment on their own via EAB Navigate or by calling the MSRC at (646) 557-4635.
- Small group tutoring
- One-on-one tutoring
- Study groups
- Topic-based workshops
- Curriculum-based recitation
- Exam Reviews (midterms and finals)
Walk-In Support
- Quick questions/answers
- No appointment necessary
- Clarifying terminology
- Practice sheets for finals (when available)
free Resource borrowing Library
Currently enrolled John Jay students may borrow certain resources from our library free of charge with a valid John Jay I.D. card. Items must be returned the same day they are returned during regular business hours. Our resource library includes:
- Updated textbooks for specific courses
- Scientific and graphic calculators
- SPSS tutorials
- Molecular models
windows desktop computer Lab
Within our suite in room 1.94NB is a computer lab with new Dell desktop computers outfitted with the latest software. Students may access the lab for free when the lab is not reserved for facult or staff. Students may also print onsite. Some of the pre-installed software include:

In order to receive tutoring services at the MSRC students must be currently enrolled in courses we support. Not all courses are supported every semester due to staff availability. If you are enrolled in a course not listed below please feel free to contact us to inquire if we offer support.
