INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW
Community Investment at L+M Development Partners: L+M Development Partners (L+M) is a double bottom line company that is an innovator in the affordable, mixed-income and market-rate housing market. At L+M, we develop, build, and manage innovative, quality housing and are committed to improving communities and strengthening the neighborhoods where we build. We believe that building affordable housing goes hand in hand with social responsibility and our dedicated Community Investment team works across every level of our business to carry out that mission. By advising at every stage of a project’s development, we have a direct impact on our residents’ lives either through providing property-based programming within our buildings or through broader community initiatives. We work closely with residents and local partners to determine community needs and seek to collaborate with neighborhood organizations best equipped to provide services or support to those underserved or at risk. We partner with non-profit organizations and local businesses to create opportunity within the local community.
This internship provides an excellent opportunity to work with a small team of Community Investment professionals (including staff with social services, youth programming and nonprofit management and evaluation expertise) at an affordable housing development company and gain valuable skills relevant to corporate philanthropy, employee engagement and social responsibility. The intern will support a variety of Community Investment activities, including engaging and monitoring with nonprofit grantee organizations and their performance, and supporting the implementation of volunteer initiatives with our employees. Additionally, this internship will provide an opportunity to learn about affordable housing in the New York Tri-State Area.
