Dr. Sarah DeMarco is a licensed clinical and forensic psychologist with over a decade of experience conducting forensic mental health assessments (FMHAs) in both criminal and civil contexts. She has specialized expertise in evaluating violence and sexual violence risk, as well as firearm-related risk. Dr. DeMarco is the co-author of Firearms in Clinical Practice: A Handbook for Medical and Mental Health Professionals (Oxford University Press, 2023), which was honored with the 2024 Lawrence S. Wrightsman Book Award by the American Psychology-Law Society (APA Division 41) for its outstanding contribution to the field of psychology and law.
Since 2016, Dr. DeMarco has served as a graduate-level professor at John Jay College, where she integrates practical experience into her teaching. Her clinical background spans a variety of settings, including prisons, a juvenile correctional facility, a forensic hospital, inpatient substance use treatment, and private practice.
