Macaulay Honors College students at John Jay benefit from a unique and challenging liberal arts curriculum that is related to the College's mission of "educating for justice," and "building and sustaining just societies." The curriculum prepares them for the rigors of graduate education and leadership in their professions and communities. Students enjoy coursework that is informed by the faculty's path-breaking research, and they have opportunites to particpate in dialogue and debate on complex justice issues with leading academics, policymakers and practitioners in the field.
At the core of Macaulay Honors College at John Jay are programs and a learning environment that foster student accomplishment, including individual academic advisement, small classes, early registration, a dedicated computer lab and lounge space for honors programs, faculty mentoring and fellowship with other high achieving students at CUNY. Macaulay students thrive in classes with students from over 120 different countries and learn from a multinational faculty that includes many of the world's foremost experts in justice-related areas. John Jay also offers top-quality study abroad programs and opportunities for study abroad scholarships among an array of enrichment opportunities (Click here to view enrichment opportunities brochure). The international learning environment on campus provides the intellectual and social experiences students need for exceptional achievement in today's global word.
Macaulay Honors College students also benefit from John Jay's mid-Manhattan location. The inspiration and stimulation the city offers provides University Scholars with outstanding community service opportunites, exciting internships, and a deeper understanding of the social contract. We have partnerships with government agencies, non-governmental organizations and educational institutions around the world. In addition to a top-tier education, we help our students plot their course from the theoretical world of academia to the practical job of building and sustaining just societies. University Scholars may network with faculty, register for courses, or pursue research opportunities on any of the other six Macaulay Honors College campuses.
