We provide technology services to law firms across the nation with networks of 50 to 5000 PCs. Core technical competencies of the Firm include information security and governance, enterprise infrastructure, network design, virtualization, desktop deployments and document management.
Due to our market leadership in the legal industry, Kraft Kennedy’s Information Security and Governance consulting practice is experiencing rapid growth. The Information Security and Governance consulting practice assists firms with end-to-end consulting, testing, management, as well as support and response to their security, governance and compliance needs.
We are looking for a conscientious individual interested in cybersecurity and digital forensics. This internship offers experience in penetration tests and vulnerability assessments on networks and web applications, as well as with digital forensics and litigation support.
The Security Intern will be responsible for reviewing and testing our clients’ technical, administrative and physical controls within their information technology environments and providing guidance on mitigating the risks based upon the results. He or she will also assist our team with responding to, investigating, and mitigating security incidents, and will respond to litigation needs in our clients’ information technology environments.
The successful candidate must be an individual who is interested in business operations, information technology, and security. Strong communication skills are essential to successfully translate technology and security requirements into business terms.
- Maintain working knowledge of advanced cyber threat tactics and techniques
- Research, identify, and understand new threats
- Assist with conducting risk assessments, security audits, vulnerability/penetration tests with commercial, open-source, and self-developed tools and techniques
- Assist with digital forensic investigations involving data breaches and litigation support
- Document and present findings to the team and clients
- Excel as a self-motivated individual who can work on their own as well as integrated with a team in a variety of situations
- Provide immediate onsite support for security incidents
- Work with and support lead incident response handlers
- Maintain working knowledge of advanced digital forensic techniques
- Research, identify and understand new artifacts in enterprise computing environments
- Strong networking knowledge with a focus on security and digital forensics
- Strong verbal and written skills
- Experience with Windows client/server architecture. Familiarity with Linux/Unix desired
- Security related certifications desired
- Familiarity security tools such as Nmap, Metasploit, Nexpose, Nessus, Kali Linux, EnCase, FTK, SIFT, etc., as well as other various commercial and self-developed tools is preferred
- Experience with scripting languages such as python, ruby, etc., as well as familiarity with programming languages such as: C/C++/ObjC/C#, Java, PHP, or .NET is preferred
- Knowledge about TCP/IP networks and architecture

Facilitator, High 5s Kindergarten Math Clubs
Bank Street College, a leading educational institution with almost 100 years of experience in early childhood, is seeking a group of 24 facilitators for our High 5s Kindergarten Math Clubs, an exciting project aimed at improving Kindergarten children’s math skills in NYC schools. Facilitators will lead small groups of children in fun, interactive math games and activities.
This position is part of a math-focused research study that is designed to improve the long-term outcomes for children living in poverty in New York City and is being conducted by MDRC in partnership with the Robin Hood Foundation. Beyond program responsibilities outlined above, this role will provide opportunities for facilitators to participate in extensive, Common Core-aligned training about early math education, build skills related to career development, and work with a supportive team of experienced early childhood professionals.
This full-time position is grant funded for the duration of the 2015-2016 school year with a potential start date of late summer, 2015. The salary for this position is $36,000.
- Lead 4-5 math clubs, meeting with each club three times a week
- Provide instruction to small groups of Kindergarten students using the High 5s curriculum
- Prepare for clubs in advance, reflect on them after, and share reflections with the project team each week
- Participate in coaching, training and professional development prior to beginning facilitation and throughout the year
- Collect and enter data into online logs on a daily basis
- Perform related duties as assigned
Minimum
- Experience working with young children
- Associate’s degree or at least 2 years of college coursework
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with children, school personnel and other members of the High 5s team
- Organizational skills including time management, managing materials, meeting deadlines and submitting documents to project staff in a timely manner
- Ability to visit multiple schools in one day throughout Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx
- Flexibility and willingness to accommodate non-traditional work-hours including before and after the school day
- Comfort and proficiency with technology including use of computers, internet, email and smart phones
- Experience with and commitment to working with ethnically diverse children, families, and professionals in low-income, urban neighborhoods
- Interest in the research process and ability to adhere to research protocols
- Must be able to pass background/reference check for clearance to work in NYC schools
Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or college coursework in a closely related field
- Bilingual English/Spanish speaker

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Domestic Nuclear Detection Office (DNDO) Summer Internship Program will provide opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students to participate in projects focused on helping DNDO meet its mission of “implementing domestic nuclear detection efforts for a managed and coordinated response to radiological and nuclear threats, as well as integration of federal nuclear forensics programs.”
- Ten-week research experiences will be offered at federal research facilities located across the U.S.
- Undergraduate students receive a stipend of $600 per week plus travel expenses.
- Graduate students receive a stipend of $700 per week plus travel expenses.
Areas of research: Engineering, earth and geosciences, computer science, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological / life sciences, environmental science, and more.
