My training is in social psychology, particularly cultural psychology. My main research focus has been on the cognitive and motivational processes underlying religious belief, as well as the relationship between religion and various tolerant outcomes (religious tolerance, opposition to religious violence, and civil and political liberty). I have also done work in political psychology, social identity, existential psychology, and the nuances of the individualist-collectivist distinction.
