With a background as a clinical psychologist and lawyer, I joined the faculty at John Jay College in 1980. Since that time, I have spent most of my professional life here as Director of the MA Program in Forensic Psychology. During that period, the program has grown from 75 students to over 400 students currently. During the last several years I developed the MA Program in Forensic Mental Health Counseling, which has recently received New York State approval to train students to become licensed counselors. My interests are in forensic assessment and in the relationship between psychology and law. I have written several books for the American Psychological Association, including one entitled Law and Mental Health Professionals: New Jersey (2nd Edition) and one entitled Law and Mental Health Professionals: New York. My outside interests include walking, traveling, and reading biographies. My educational background includes a BA from Johns Hopkins University, a JD from the University of Michigan Law School, a Ph.D in Clinical Psychology from CUNY at the City College of New York, and a postdoctoral certificate in psychotherapy from NYU.
