Prof. Tom Litwack received his Ph. D. in Clinical Psychology from N.Y.U. in 1972 and his J. D. from the same institution in 1974.
He has been a member of the John Jay faculty since 1967, initially as one of the first four members of the Counseling Department. He joined the Psychology Department in 1973. As can be seen from his recent publications, his interests include Violence Risk Assessments, Mental State Defenses, Competency to Stand Trial, and, in general, Mental Health Law. He is currently working on a manuscript analyzing the relationship between confidence and accuracy in eyewitness identifications (and the admissibility of expert testimony regarding that relationship) and he is soon to embark on an extensive study of the admissibility, in state and federal courts, of expert testimony regarding behavioral syndromes and behavioral patterns.
