Research interests include: The long-term goal is to understand how viral infections affect protein synthesis and cellular anti-viral strategies by: 1) identifying high affinity mRNA structures for Pokeweed Antiviral Protein (PAP) binding; 2) determining the extent to which depurination correlates with binding affinity; and 3) identifying other initiator factors that affect PAP activity.
