Fall
2000, PAD 715.03 Recycling Survey Study Project More
than 2/3 of randomly selected John Jay students ( 100 level classes)
feel that is important to recycle and the majority feel it is very
important to do so!
This is true regardless their gender, age, employment or housing
status or study load.
Although only 101 students were included in the sample, the study
was representative of the entire student body. There were students from
ages eighteen through fifty, full time and part time students, and
undergraduate and BA/MA students. Most agreed that the location and
labeling of bins are important factors in determining whether or not
they recycle.
Cafeteria and classrooms are considered the most important
locations for recycling bins. Pictures and wording labels were
"voted" to be the clearest indicators of where paper and
bottles should go.
Survey results were sent to the Buildings and Grounds Department,
Administrative Affairs and the Cafeteria by the students of PAD 715,
Research Methods.
They hope that you will use our recycling bins and contribute to
John Jay's environmental stewardship!
