Brief Bio of Anthony J. Lemelle

Anthony J. Lemelle, Jr. is a professor in the Department of Sociology at John Jay College of Criminal Justice. He earned his Ph.D. in sociology from the University of California at Berkeley. He is widely published in the areas of African American culture, Black masculinity and African Americans and HIV/AIDS. He is Membership Chairperson of the Association of Black Sociologists and chair-elect of the Race, Gender and Class section of the American Sociological Association. He has many professional memberships including the American Public Health Association, National Council for Black Studies and the Society for the Study of Social Problems.
