Leona Lee earned her Masters Degree in criminology from Cambridge University, England, and her PhD in criminal justice from Rutgers University. She has done research in the areas of juvenile delinquency, juvenile justice, and court dispositions, and has published in the Journal of Criminal Justice, Journal of Crime and Justice, Juvenile and Family Court Journal, and Youth and Society. She recently completed Themes of the Times on Juvenile Delinquency (Allyn & Bacon, 2008). Her current research focuses on the integration of psychological and sociological concepts in the explanation of crime. Using data she collected from the United States, England, Hong Kong, and South Korea, she is currently examining the direct and indirect effects of sensation seeking on criminality. She is also studying the association between femininity and the kind of person one would like to marry. Finally, in conjunction with James Lynch and Maggie Smith of John Jay College, she is working on a research project funded by the National Institute of Justice, analyzing the relationship between incarceration and victimization.
